The agency used the system to assist in the implementation of the single family mortgage insurance programs authorized by the National Housing Act (Title 12, Chapter 13 of the United States Code) and regulated by Title 24, Part 203 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The system improved the monitoring of the individual mortgages, and facilitated research, analysis, and auditing of the mortgage programs. This series contains records of each loan insured by the Federal Housing Administration. Along with the characteristics of the loan, each record contains information on the mortgagor and the property being mortgaged. Personal data on each mortgagor includes name, address, social security number, income, age, sex and marital status. Property data includes appraisal value, and descriptions of the house, lot and neighborhood. The loan data includes the mortgage amount, closing costs, interest rate, term and underwriting data.
